“My Immortal” is a song by the American rock band Evanescence, released in 2003 as a single from their debut studio album, “Fallen.” The song was written by the band’s lead singer, Amy Lee, and its former guitarist, Ben Moody.

The lyrics of the song are about the pain and heartache of losing a loved one, and the struggle to let go and move on. The opening lines, “I’m so tired of being here / Suppressed by all my childish fears,” convey a sense of helplessness and despair. The chorus, with the repeated phrase “These wounds won’t seem to heal / This pain is just too real / There’s just too much that time cannot erase,” expresses the deep emotional scars that losing someone can leave behind.

Throughout the song, Lee’s haunting vocals are accompanied by a melancholy piano melody, creating a somber and mournful atmosphere.

As for the band’s history, Evanescence was formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by Amy Lee and Ben Moody. They released several independent albums before signing with a major label and releasing “Fallen” in 2003. The album was a huge success, selling over 17 million copies worldwide and earning the band two Grammy Awards.

However, in 2003, Moody left the band during their European tour, citing creative differences. Lee continued on as the band’s lead singer and primary songwriter, and Evanescence released several more albums over the years, with different lineups and musical styles.

Despite lineup changes and hiatuses, Evanescence has remained a popular and influential band in the rock and metal genres, with a dedicated fan base around the world.
